My Study Trip (Assignment 6)
When you think about Berlin, it would not strike you as the most interesting city of the three choices we had - San Fransisco, China or Berlin. Firstly, we visited Autostadt and Wolfsburg, before leaving for Berlin. The level of detail in the factory of Volkswagen was absolutely incredible.
As I said, Berlin seems to be the least interesting study trip of the three. However, it turned out to be one of the best choices I ever made. I have always had an interest in the history of the Second World War and as everyone knows, Berlin had a major role in this war. As a result, Berlin now is like one giant museum with pieces of history prominently present.
We also dived into the start-up scene in Berlin, which is one the greatest of Europe. Lots of start-ups begin in Berlin and expand from there. One of the reasons is the relatively low housing costs. For this study trip, we had to make some assignments, which I have listed below.
In the background, you see the Memorial for the Murdered Jews. It was literally breathtaking and I strongly recommend you going there if you have never been there before. To round off, I would like to add the poem, written on the walls of the memorial for the Roma and Sinti, hunted and murdered from 1933 until 1945.
Gaunt face
dead eyes
cold lips
quiet
a broken heart
out of breath
without words
no tears
