Session 9: Talents (reflection)
Welcome to our final session of Talent and Develop management. The last learning group was about talents. It was quite learnful actually and enjoyable as well. Our chairs were Pauline and Maybritt, who did an excellent job in my opinion. I will take you through this session by using my moodboard.

On the right you can see my moodboard. There is a bit of a story behind each talent, as one talent leads to the other, or at least has a connection. To start off, I am very confident. I have a very strong opinion and I am not shy to share it with other people, even if this means that I put myself in a difficult position. Because of this, I have learned to motivate people to take the same path as I do, or believe in the same principles. Therefore, one of my talents is 'motivator'. The talent of which I am most proud, is the intuitive thinker. I have a clear goal in mind and want to get from A to B as soon as possible. Most of the time this is in a straight line, but sometimes you have to be creative and get around some problems. That is why I chose the picture of the mountain. In that case, going around the mountain is the shortest and most efficient way, in stead of going over the mountain.
When I think of my goals and the most efficient way of reaching them, I have a clear picture or film in my head of how things should go. That is why I have included the picture of a film. This makes me a scriptwriter, as I am always planning two steps ahead. I think this is a valuable talent, of which I am gladly making a strength at the moment. Lastly, there of course is always an end goal in every project I take on. Whether it is a bicycle race, a school project or even a drawing. I love to get appreciation on my achievement. That makes me a noted achiever, as I can really enjoy that moment.
When I think back of this session, I have seen that a lot of people have issues judging their fellow students' talents. What struck me was that I had the talent of everyone right, except for one. This is a skill which I am currently trying to develop more, but it is something I have experienced before. My grandfather had this skill as well and I am happy to have inherited this talent from him.
I really believe that you have to do something with your talents. Like I said before, Artevelde has stimulated my creativity, on which I have started drawing again. In the past I had 'abandoned' this talent because I did not enjoy doing it. Now, eight years later I have picked it up again and I really do enjoy it. My other talents: 'Planner', 'Noted achiever', 'script writer', 'motivator' and 'intuitive thinker' are also talents which I value a lot. I am working on them in order to make these a strength and use them to their full potential. Talent and Management Development has helped me reveal these talents, for which I am very grateful.
To round off, I would like to include a quote by Benjamin Franklin about talent.
"Hide not your talents, they for use were made,
What's a sundial in the shade? ”
