E-skills

Hello there, this is the place on the Internet where you will find my portfolio for E-Skills. In this subject, we have seen many different subjects regarding online things we will need as a future professional. The way I have organised this portfolio is as follows. On the bottom of every page, you can find your way to the next topic, or you choose the navigation menu at the top to choose the assignment you want to go to immediately. Every topic starts with some extra information, after which you will find the assignment or assignments and finally a reflection at the bottom of each page. At the bottom of this page, you will also find a link to all the assignments. However, I suggest you click on the button to the first assignment, as it provides you a better learning path.

Final reflection

I think that it is very important for us, as a younger generation, to be up to date with all the different evaluations in online content and applications. However, I do not think that e-skills are skills that can be taught in a class room. Especially not in the way it is organised by Artevelde. It makes absolutely no sense to have two semesters of the same material, while this means that some content has already expired a year at the moment the second semester ends. Therefore, I do not think that this subject is very useful. This does not mean that I do not think that it is important to learn about different e-skills you need to have.

What I did like about the classes, were the discussions and small debates about topics. Especially one of the final lessons about Internet of Things was really nice. We only were present with 6 persons, so we had a lot of interaction. I think that maybe for next years, as it is important to teach about e-skills, there are some things which could be changed in this course.

Firstly, I think that e-skills is a subject which should be taught online. For example, you could have class via tutorial videos and you could work on subjects from home, on the Internet.

Secondly, the task about CMS is a bit superfluous, as most of us already use a Content Management System to produce the portfolio. You learn about the different features by using it, not by looking up information on the subject.

The photoshop task is really nice and I enjoyed making it, so it is a good idea to keep it in the course. I think it is basic enough for people who have never used photoshop before, but when you are already proficient you can make an artists work of it.

Overall, I did not really learn a lot of new things in this course, but I think some people did. The critical attitude towards information is something to consider each and every day, but I think this is something you should already do before the e-skills course. If you only start to think critically after this course, you are two years two late (at least).
